Graphical PDF Manipulation Tool PDF Arranger 1.2.0 Adds Shortcut Keys, Other Refinements

PDF Arranger

PDF Arranger, a PDF-Shuffler fork, was updated to version 1.2.0, and it includes enhancements like shortcut keys, export metadata of first imported PDF, and more.

PDF Arranger is a free and open source application for manipulating PDF documents, that can be used to merge, split, rotate and crop PDF documents and reorder their pages, using an interactive user interface. It's a fork of PDF-Shuffler, which hasn't had a release since April, 2012, with Gtk3 and Python 3 support, and various minor new features and bug fixes.

Improvements in the latest PDF Arranger 1.2.0:

  • Add action shortcut keys - use +/- to zoom in/out, c to open the crop dialog, Ctrl + Right/Left to rotate 90/-90 degrees (some shortcuts already worked, but they weren't exposed in the menus), and grey out menu items that aren't applicable (like the Edit menu items when nothing is selected)
  • Remember window size, maximized status and zoom level
  • Align thumbnails to the left/top and make margin/spacing uniform
  • Relayout the cropping dialog & add a warning about not removing content
  • Re-render thumbnails when zooming, which should fix blurred pages when zooming in
  • Support more PDF files by switching some PyPDF errors to warnings
  • Keep original metadata by exporting the meta data of the first imported PDF
  • Improve German translation

This also marks the first PDF Arranger release for which the developer provides Microsoft Windows binaries for download.
